Agreed. My Father was a Master Mason for his entire life and started as a Bricklayer at 15. He was one of the best and people would wait years to have them build a fireplace for them or do a dry pack wall. They show one guy with a trowel do an angled drag cut and that’s a “hack”. I was doing that at 12 with my Daddy on our own house and pretty proud of it. He just passed a few months ago and I still look at brick work and see flaws or think “nice job”. He left me his Diamond Saw and Small Cement Mixer and I tiled my Kitchen and both bathrooms. Not my husband, not my brother. Me. The Nurse Practitioner. Pays to be the eldest and a Tom Boy. I miss him daily so much. Most kids got cars or luggage for graduation. I got a hell of a Snap on Tool Box filled with tools most guys I dated thought were an old boyfriends. Ha. Never judge a book by its cover. Calling a life time of skills a hack is not a hack, it’s a gift that took years to perfect. About the ONLY thing closest to a “hack” that I saw was the Cement truck filling sonotubes with a revised “directional table” to aim it but that’s not much of a hack just a way to use a “table” to direct the cement rather than taking it off and on and trading out with a piping piece. Hack....nope. Skills....yeah. 👍🏻

1:30 That use of masking tape to make a pattern is pure genius! The wall tiling in my kitchen is 'slabs' of mosaics. Although I was paid full price to do it (long story), I got them for less than half that! 😁

8:01 I have never seen a worse cunstruction tipp than this. This HIGHLY depends on the foam and brand. Standart construction expanding foam doesnt isolate sound and is HIGHLY air and humidity permeable. That means it leads the humidity from the outside wall and condensate directly to the inside wall while not isolating temperature AT ALL. Foam that will do this job properly costs about 15 bugs for just one can while you can get 7.5 square meters of 60mm thic wool for that same price. Do you have any idea how many of those cans you would burn to fill 7.5 square meters between walls? And that doesnt even include the unnessecary complications youd have waiting for the foam to expand in order to continue with the next layer. You cant just fill that shit in there and hope it reaches the correct height and thickness.

Awesome vid but 8:09 they say that expanding foam is very poor at insulating. is that not true? by insulation I mean of course temperature or sound.

Youre probably right. If it was that cheap and good, people would use it. Ofc theres a reason why theres something specific to insulation. I dont think these ‘’handy’’ tricks are that smart if you gonna fix someones house or something else expensive
