Family Buys MASSIVE Old House and Renovates it Back to New in 2 Years by @ExodeRenovation

Ойын-сауық

In a world where the pace of change often leaves us disconnected from our roots, renovation projects like this Loire Valley house offer a profound reminder of the importance of balance and harmony. They demonstrate that it is possible to honor our history while embracing the future, to live sustainably without sacrificing comfort, and to create homes that are both beautiful and functional.
These projects are not just about bricks and mortar; they are about creating spaces that nurture the body, mind, and soul. They are about crafting environments that reflect our deepest values and highest aspirations. In doing so, they set a standard for how we can live more thoughtfully and responsibly in the modern world.
Are you excited to see how Exode works?

To things to mention for re-roofing job: The old rafters are bowing in quite significantly, so, wood is already given up its integrity, in such cases it is not about reinforcement, it is about replacement needed. Considering the choice to use heavy slates and additional window, it all seems to be too heavy. You put an insulation between rafters in the attic without any counter-lattice and moisture preventing membrane on the outside. So, you insulate non-vented wood, where moisture, gathering on the cold side of the construction, will be trapped in, and will have no other way but damage the wood. Good luck with this roof, I suppose you will need it.

Hi, i'm a friend of Etienne and Isa who renovate this house. Maybe it's not really clear in this video but the part with the small kitchen is not the main kitchen of the house. it is a room like a studio which is meant to be rent as an Airbnb. The main kitchen of the house is next to the living room ( its not really visible either in this video, and was not finished at this point) and the all room kitchen + living room represent all the 1st floor of the old house so at least 70m2. (So not pokey rooms). I advise you to watch their channel, i think they gonna release some new videos about those parts of the house. If one day you have the chance to come in France to see the actual house, the feeling is way different in comparison with this video. Just wanted to clarify some points, but you're totally right to not like it !

Other countries don't have the building codes we are use to here in the US.

Amazing basic renovation with true quality craftsmanship but it is too contemporary for my taste. They did some great ground work but then went too much into trendy contemporary treatments that detract from the character and timeless appeal of the original. Also, there does not seem to be a kitchen. But I must say that redoing the roof; that alone is a tremendous feat.

Can't say I'm a fan of the renovation choices and results. I appreciate the effort, but man, the house had so much (potential) character and its all gone.
