The young man's build is on his KZread channel Outdoor Life and Craft. He built it over a year ago. Enjoyed the series very much. He has now started a new build after several month of doing extra little things in and around the dugout. He also usually has the ingredients needed to make the food he cooks while at his dugout as well in the description underneath. Looks very tasty lol One last thing ... while building a cabin(before he built the dugout), he found a abandoned puppy that he took in and who is now his constant companion.

A nice build, but it's a build that seems plausible only because of the video editing. How many man hours did it take? 400? More? Unless you understand wood as a building material, you can't say, building with wood is ideal when you're in a forest, then say all freshly cut wood should be dried in the sun. For anyone who hasn't worked with freshly felled trees, it take years to dry out, and air is far better than sun. I was in a rural, forest village in Switzerland with a central "seasoning" area for wood, one of the villagers explained to me: people cut fresh wood as they need it plus some, to increase the stored amount, they add it to the store and take the oldest wood, that has dried for 15-20 years to use. If you're on your own and need a shelter, it's far quicker, but has wildlife dangers, to find a cave. If you have electric tools, can get your dried timber delivered, are used to moving tons of soil, and all the other realities that a production team can provide, then building a shelter like this is feasible, and makes for a great YT video.

Nice video and he did construct the shelter. But the initial hole was dug with a backhoe. All these videos show the person start digging, next the hole is dug with perfectly squared sides. Where did all the lumber come from. It was cut somewhere else, by someone else, and transported to the site. Could someone dig the hole by hand, maybe. Could someone go out in the forest and harvest all the lumber, maybe. I'm just saying this guy didn't. The construction was done for entertainment purposes and to get views.

Good job, well thought of! The small oven will be fully sufficient to keep it warm and cosy inside. And this little window is smart - it provides for orientation in time. Helps to keep your natural clock correct. (Until it may get covered under amounts of snow as well? But they are in the middle of the forrest and did not use trees from close by for the build. But the window should not be facing to the direction of max winds in this area anyway, not the entrance.) 'War is a Racket', Smedley Butler - good soldiers are the same everywhere, too obvious they are.
