Surprisingly he has zero insulation in the roof, just ½ inch plywood between the inside and the outside, 60 percent of heat loss is form the roof and only 15 percent from the walls so why bother insulating the walls if you have none in the roof.

The insulation was placed on top of the plywood sheeting 😉And yes... We're in the South.

he should have cut the top of his posts (slot) so the floor weight rests fully on top of the post rather than on the side. If those nails or screw fails, the floor fails. He can fix that by placing a board under his floor frame and scabbing it to the side of the post, using liquid nails also. I am also curious why no house wrap.

@@allentuggle2837 so far, ill have to watch it again. Would have been good to put a moisture barrier behind the insulation. That is the purpose of house wrap.

Wouldn't the poles rot when they're bare in the ground like that?

as long as he tossed some gravel in the bottom of the hole for drainage and the wood is pressure treated, it will last a long time. It also helps to paint the end of the post because posts will suck water up through the end grain.

In watching this young man construct his guest hous? To which I am enjoying it! But it's the music that was picked for this video, that's playing? Its, in my opinion, very distracting. I can't hear anything of the wood cutting and screw drilling into the wood including the brief scene of the medal sheets on the roof! It would've made for very good ASMR. The same comment goes to the other "guest houses" construction videos I've seen, the last one was somewhere in or outside of London or Ireland? I will continue to see these videos, only without wearing the earplugs.

Построил за шесть месяцев дом на шесть месяцев... Да, мммм, я впервые вижу деревянные сваи у такого дома! Дом красивый, бесспорно! Но когда за пол года у тебя сгниёт весь фундамент и дом просядет и пойдёт трещинами придётся делать всё заново! Красивый но чрезвычайно глупый подход!!! Сначала надо думать - а потом делать, а не наоборот!

I've watched probably too many of these "off grid" home builds over the last couple of years and have seen some pretty shoddy & questionable work. This isn't one of them. The only thing that is, as has already been pointed out, is the lack of ceiling insulation. Why put all the effort into installing insulation in the floor & walls then do nothing for the ceiling? Do like the good use of repurposed windows & the door. Good stove & mantle as well. 😊

The porch is bigger than the cabin why?

We wanted a large deck because we love the outdoors... In the future we'll also be adding more to the cabin: Bedroom, bath, and kitchen.

No beam on post? Damn! Whole building held up with a pocket full of nails or maybe a few lag bolts. And post in the dirt! God damn. I guess you do not want yoyr children to enjoy this. 😢

Nicely built, but very tiny. This could have been built in 6 weeks or even 6 days.
