I'm a painter. Been a painter for 15 years. The only "hack" worth doing is using a trash bag as a tray liner. The textured finishes aren't a hack, that's just how they're done. All the gimmicky nonsense just wastes time. The screwing a bottle of paint into a brush makes ZERO sense, unless you only plan on painting the floor. And screwing rollers together doesn't paint anything faster, it just creates an opportunity for more drips and ruins the handles of two rollers. Yes, it's entertaining to watch but please don't waste your time trying to replicate this silliness.

some good ones here, I suggest when painting cupboard doors hang them upside down so you have the holes for the eyelet on the bottom edge of the door and unseen when touched in afterwards

I bought from a shopping channel years ago a thing called the Aston Dandy, it worked like that using centrifugal force, it's brilliant all you need is an old bucket, the brushes and rollers are like brand new.

Whenever possible, I always paint the trim first. Once it's up, I just go back and fill in pin nails and touch up>

For a diy still time consuming for a person that seldom paints, the only 1 I've used is plastic bag on tray, a painter will paint circles around this stuff, 30 yr union painter.

I can't believe people would still use a tray. I can't do it. A 5 gallon bucket with a screen hold so much more paint and is more sturdy, cleaner...just all around better. I am really surprised to hear so many painters that still use trays. They would make the job take longer.

I figured out using a piece of sheet metal for over 20 yrs-The "Tape makers" I don't think they ppl to know that so much work, expense, time & less garbage disposing of used paint tape is I wld say 80-90% unessary! U can lengthen^/shorten it & it is sharp-so it kind of digs onto drywall etc & paints not going underneath either. It's cheap & if careful of sharp edges it's a fantastic help-add a handle & good to go!!

You painted an Oak cupboard door.... white. Oak! Why would you do that?

Textured ceiling are falling out of favor,they are hard to clean or paint,and removing it from what I've been told is very hard,so the walls that are Textured can't be any easier to maintain

Walls are not textured because of popularity they are textured mostly because it's extremely difficult to get a good smooth ceiling and it's more expensive to do a level 5 job than to just texture it.

1/4 inch dry wall over top the textured walls is the fastest, easiest method to remove textured walls.

I'm a painter of 20 years, I paint clean lines with a brush, no tape, no hacks needed. Tape is for spraying.

I mean, yea. I have been painting for almost 25 years. We free hand and do not use tape...unless something is really tough to cut a line on. Straight lines are easy as hell... on baseboard, corners, but for lines in the middle of a wall, tape is the only way. If someone thinks they can make a straight line in the middle of a wall, from crown to baseboard, free handed, then I have to question if they have magical powers or not. Someone could get close, but it isn't going to be perfectly straight in the middle of the wall...not like tape could do. Sometimes tape isn't even perfect.
