Man Builds Secret Underground Cabin in the Forest | Start to Finish by

Ruslan has the channel RuslaninTheWoods, where he shows his passion for wildlife. He loves to observe animals in their environment, and for this he needed a safe and comfortable shelter.
Its construction technique is impeccable and the use of space makes this project unique.
Following a tradition in keeping with nature, it reduces the visual impact by making great use of its surroundings, generating a sense of invisibility that will allow you to enjoy a diverse forest.
Do you want to see the final result?

People have lived in similar such rustic structures for thousands of years. Built without tarps for some level of watertighteness. Condensation from breathing in it will be a bigger problem than rain. For a fun little project, and occasional camping trip, this should be fine. Dugout homes, and homes built only of cut and stacked sod, used to be common over large parts of the prairie due to difficulty getting much wood when people began settling there. Also, I've been in a number of dirt floored root cellars that stayed completely dry after heavy rains.

There is the issue of water flooding inside the bunker coming from the floor, not from the walls as the walls were insulated. If the floor is insulated, the water needs to be stopped from coming up, means you need to install appropriate flooring. For this Underground Cabin to be livable, it has to avoid ground water coming up to your floors. This means that the bunker is located in the hilly part of the forest, where the floor level of the bunker is above the natural ground level in the area. I find the construction very interesting, and the effort the guys are doing. Thanks for the Video. 🙂

@@teeanahera8949 There is something you dont understand. I have both an Engineering and Architectural degree. The threat of water is from the thawing snow. It comes in larger volume than you think. At that time, the ground will still be frozen. And the water will flood. You live and learn from experience. Go get some and you will understand the principal of basement flooding in all soils and all climates. Now a little more insight into just how st00pid your response was. You assume sand will drain. Then you explain why gravel is the norm for slab drainage, particularly in soil conditions he has built in. Because the "sand" there is not the same as washed sand on the beach. Over the millennium, the forest undergrowth and fallen leaves have deteriorated and mixed with the sand as fine particle, this causes a much slower drainage rate than normal. This is evident in his ability to cut holes in the ground without the sides slipping in. So my comment stands as is. And I suggest that after fooling yourself to believe the BS you just gave me, you should stay away from any construction works.

Would make the bed base lift up in 2 sections rather than bother with fiddly small doors. A cupola instead of skylights also makes more sense as last thing you want is a critter falling in. You can then also set up a perch and watch from comfort inside. A proper living roof membrane makes more sense than tarps as plant tap roots will easily make holes in his roof and will contribute the need for earlier repairs.

I guess he intends to keep the windows and doors open a lot of the time. Burning wood in a fireplace in a fairly sealed off underground shelter like that would suck a lot of the oxygen out. Location has a lot to do with what one has to think of when undertaking something like this. Humid? Dry? Cold etc?
